Self-care kits for the empowerment of adolescents and women
  • Delivery of dignity kits in Hospital and Health Center of San Juan de Lurigancho district

  • Each kit contains: soap, shampoo, sanitary towels, cotton underwear, toothpaste, toothbrush, comb, alcohol gel, deodorant stick and toilet paper, all inside a reusable cloth bag.

  • The kits were transferred on the morning of November 5 from the UNFPA headquarters to the San Juan del Lurigancho Hospital (HSJL).

  • The following participated in the delivery event: Maria Eugenia Mujica – UNFPA Assistant Representative, Pablo Cordova – Director of the HSJL, OB María Arcos Salazar – SRH Coordinator DIRIS Lima Center, Dr. Jorge Luis Basauri Quiroz - Head of the Departme

  • A set of kits were left at the HSJL, the rest were distributed to health centers in the district: H.C. Huáscar XV, H.C. Bayóvar, H.C. Cruz de Motupe, H.C. Jaime Zubieta, H.C. Ganímedes, H.C. Santa Rosa and H.C. La Libertad.

  • Each delivery is preceded by an awareness-raising talk, which helps to raise awareness among adolescents and women about the prioritization of their needs in an emergency context and self-care practices.

  • The delivery of the dignity kits to the health centers was done by the primary care staff. The kits were given to pregnant women, who were there for their follow-up appointments, as well as to postpartum women.

  • In the process of delivering the dignity kits, a special emphasis was placed on distributing them to migrant, refugee and host community women.

  • The delivery of dignity kits will remain in the regions of Lambayeque, Piura and Tumbes. Thank you
