Tumbes, Peru. - As part of the "Saving Lives" project, on October 13, the delivery of 225 dignity kits to women and adolescents from the districts of San Jacinto, Tumbes, La Cruz, Corrales, Zarumilla, Zorritos, including 36 migrant/refugee women, took place. They were provided with information about services for gender-based violence guidance and care, as well as sexual and reproductive health care to reduce the risk of experiencing GBV, and to promote their safety and dignity.

The purpose of delivering dignity kits is to meet the basic hygiene needs, including menstrual hygiene, and to promote their safety and dignity, reaffirming the premise that all women have the right to self-care and hygiene in humanitarian contexts.

This activity was carried out as part of the preparations for responding to the state of emergency declaration due to flooding in the northern regions of Peru. It aims to strengthen and contribute to the self-care, self-esteem, and personal hygiene of the population at risk and/or affected by the climate crisis.

Dignity kits contain a set of items such as soap, underwear, sanitary towels, a mirror, a comb, shampoo, a toothbrush, toothpaste, repellent, informative booklets on intimate hygiene and gender-based violence, basic items for the self-care of women and adolescents.
