In a significant step towards improving care for survivors of violence in the province of Condorcanqui, the provincial mayor received representatives from UNFPA Peru in his office. During the meeting, the representatives informed the mayor about the beginning of the work to install the Gesell Chamber in Santa María, the capital of the Nieva district in the province of Condorcanqui, located in the department of Amazonas.

UNFPA representatives in Peru informed the mayor about the beginning of the work to install the Gesell Chamber in Santa María.

The installation of a Gesell Chamber in the province is very important, as it will enable timely and appropriate handling of cases of sexual, physical, and psychological violence. This specialized resource will provide a safe environment, facilitating the work of professionals and improving the quality of care provided, reinforcing the commitment of local authorities to safety and justice.

Later, the attendees visited the Francisco Rodríguez Contreras market, where the work is being carried out, to verify the progress and learn about the construction process. This visit allowed them to observe firsthand the advances and details of the ongoing project.

The Gesell Chamber will enable timely and appropriate handling of cases of sexual, physical, and psychological violence.

The Nuwa Senchi Project demonstrates a commitment to justice and equality, showcasing the significant impact of collaboration and concerted action towards a future free of violence for women and girls in the Amazonas region. At UNFPA Peru, we reaffirm our commitment to continue working to promote the safety, empowerment, and well-being of all women.
