Respuesta del UNFPA a la crisis climática

Este año Perú enfrenta una crisis climática causada por el ciclón Yaku y el fenómeno del Niño Costero. Hubo pérdida de vidas, medios de vida, infraestructura, y afectación de servicios públicos, especialmente en el centro y norte del país. El fenómeno del Niño global para 2023-2024 incrementa el riesgo de prolongación de esta crisis. Con financiamiento del Fondo Central de Respuesta a Emergencias de las Naciones Unidas (CERF), el UNFPA busca contribuir, en las regiones de Tumbes, Piura y Lambayeque, a asegurar el acceso de niñas, adolescentes y mujeres de las zonas afectadas a servicios que salvan vidas de salud sexual y reproductiva y protección ante la violencia basada en género.

  • United Nations and regional governments of Piura and Lambayeque articulate efforts in the face of the climate crisis

    The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), along with five other UN agencies, presented the emergency projects for the climate crisis to the Regional Governments of Piura and Lambayeque. These projects are financed by CERF, in order to respond to humanitarian needs in areas affected by the "Fenómeno del Niño".

  • Life-saving health and protective services for those who need it most

    Peru faces a climate emergency that began in the first quarter of 2023, caused by the effects of Cyclone Yaku and the El Niño Costero phenomenon.
